Bohemian Border bash RACE

BBBR  is a fixed route, 1300 kilometres long, unsupported, single-stage ultra-endurance on & off-road cycling competition circumnavigating the ancient borders of Bohemia.

Bohemian Border Bash Race

September 4. - 11. 2021

The Race is a fixed route, unsupported, single-stage ultra-endurance on & off-road cycling competition. It will start and finish in Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland National Park, and the route will follow the ancient borderlands of Bohemia via the remnants of centuries-old road networks that still exist to this day. The riders will compete on their approximately 1300km long journey circumnavigating Bohemia, crossing back-and-forth along national borders, riding through Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. With over 22,000m of climbing, it will be a test of each rider's abilities and a true adventure - a race able to rival ultra-endurance events on faraway continents, yet here, in the middle of Europe. The start and the finish of The Race will take place at the very same place we use for The Camp.

All racers will be required to carry a satellite tracker, both to log their race track and to aid in locating any competitor in need of emergency assistance. It will be a self-supported race. Racers will not be able to ask for or accept any help along the way. But even though much of the course will wind through less developed areas, the nature of locating The Race in the heart of Europe means there will be numerous points for public resupply close to and along the route.

There will be several checkpoints along the route where every racer must sign in. Some will also serve as refueling points, places to rest, as well as official time cutoffs for those riders not meeting a preset but forgiving overall time limit.

It is very important that you will read the RACE MANUAL before you register as a Pair or as a Solo rider.

The BBBR has been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

May 1st, 2021

Dearest adventure riders,

It's time to face the facts and those hard-to-swallow truths.
Although new Covid cases are falling steadily on the Bohemian, Austrian, and Polish sides of our borders, new cases are still increasing on the German side. Therefore, we have decided we cannot wait any longer, simply hoping for the best. With a heavy heart, we decided to temporarily pull the plug and postpone the inaugural BBBR.

After making peace with this tough decision, we started to strain our heads to make the best of the bad situation. What could make our inaugural BBBR even better? And then it struck us. Let the BBBR riders finish during the 2021 BBB CAMP. There will be tons of patting of backs, more cheering from fellow adventure fans, lots of curious questions, unlimited stories to share, and one giant Bohemian Border Bash Party to share it all together with plenty of cold beer, great food, and entertainment.

So without further ado, the new dates for the first edition Bohemian Border Bash RACE will be September 4 - 11, 2021.

We're sad to miss riding with all of you this spring, but take it as a small training reprieve, maybe some extra time to dial in your perfect bikepacking race setup. We know you'll all probably still get out to ride some crazy distances in this coming month, but please do it safely and probably closer to home.

And rest assured that Bohemia is ready and waiting patiently to invite you to come to Bash Borders with us. And we'll all be together again soon, once we can be sure of everyone's health and safety. So until then, take care & ride far!
